After high demand for Matthew to return, he will be back performing all your favourite party classics. Expect Luther Vandros, Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye. A night with Frank Bruno MBE

F. Cooke is hosting an exclusive event with Frank Bruno MBE on July 28^th 2022. For one night only our traditional pie and mash shop will be home to Frank Bruno where he will be interviewed live on stage by the recently signed Josh James.

Guests will be treated to drinks on arrival, a pie and mash meal with drinks flowing throughout the night. There will be a raffle and an auction to raise money for Franks charity ‘The Frank Bruno Foundation’.

It will be an evening to celebrate two British institutions coming together; pie and mash and a boxing legend together in timely form post the Queen’s Jubilee. The night will be extremely intimate where guests will have the chance to get up close and personal with Frank and hear about the life and career of one of Britain’s best-loved boxers.

The Frank Bruno Foundation is a direct result of Frank wanting to give something back to the community. Frank has spoken openly of how exercise has played a vital role throughout his life whilst training as a professional boxer, and more recently in his battle with mental health challenges.

Special OAP day and Student prices

We’re delighted to launch our OAP day and special prices for students which will see old age pensioners able to enjoy our pie and mash every Tuesday for discounted prices and students able to enjoy a meal day throughout the week for less. For just £4 the elderly and young can enjoy a hot meal with a hot or cold drink. Made fresh on the premises every day, those who are unable to enjoy our food as much as they would like can now take advantage of our lower prices. By bringing generations together we hope to continue to welcome families into our traditional eel and pie house to enjoy our delicious food like so many generations have done for the past 160 years.

F. Cooke Chelmsford turns 1

Saturday 6^th November we were delighted to be able to celebrate our eel and pie house turning one. One year on from having the Chelmsford Mayor, Councillor Jude Deakin cut the ribbon on our (lock down) opening day, we were thrilled to be able to invite our friends, family and customers to celebrate with us. We were honoured to have Deputy Mayor Linda Mascot join us in celebrating whilst enjoying our traditional pie and mash. In just one year we have welcomed many customers through our doors, launched a national delivery service as well as delivering locally through Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats. We’ve seen many influencers and foodies through the door with most recently Matt from Food Hub Review giving us the highest score he has ever given to a pie and mash shop (he’s eaten at them all!). Three sell our comedy nights have been hosted as well as private parties and events and most recently Robert Cooke was invited to be a guest judge on Celebrity MasterChef in the finals week. What a year it’s been. We are focused and have huge plans for the next year but most importantly we want to thank each and every single person who has supported us along the way, it wouldn’t be possible without you.

Robert appears as guest judge on Celebrity MasterChef

Robert was thrilled to be invited onto Celebrity MasterChef as a guest judge where he was asked to score the celebrities on their creations. Megan Mckenna, Kem Cetiny, Joe Swash, Dion Dublin and Kadeena Cox MBE were all taught by Executive Head Chef and pastry expert, Calum Franklin of The Pie Room at Holborn Dining Room in London.

The celebrities were immersed in a culinary tradition that’s been part of British culture for over 600 years and is what our heritage is built on – the pie. Robert gave his skilled opinion on a variety of dishes and was delighted to be able to trial the captivating variations of the traditional pie whilst sharing his expertise and knowledge.

All deliveries will arrive carefully packed and will be ready for you to reheat or freeze as you please.

Comedy night

F. Cooke are excited to be teaming up with comedian Josh James for a night of comedy and pie and mash at our shop in Chelmsford on Friday 16th July to celebrate all things East End. Josh will be performing alongside 4 of his favourite acts that really encapsulate the F. Cooke culture and our eat end heritage. Anything up to a 2&2 will be served on the night and is included in the ticket price.

Doors open at 7.30pm with food being served before the show which starts at 8.30pm prompt so please arrive on time. This is an intimate gig so please call to reserve tickets.

F. Cooke has partnered with Click It Local so that you can now have our traditional pie mash and liquor delivered to you on the same or next day, chilled ready for you to freeze or reheat.

Through Click It Local, you can shop at multiple stores from your local Highstreet and have all your purchases delivered to your door with only one delivery fee. A virtual high street that aims to support small independent family run businesses. From our pie mash and liquor, to our fruit pies for desert and jellied or stewed ells, everything on our menu is available to have packaged and delivered to your doorstop stress free.

After much demand, we’re excited to say we have joined Deliveroo for our local delivery service. For our customers who are less able to come in to collect a takeaway or for those who don’t want to leave the house, you no longer need to. You can now enjoy our traditional meals in the comfort of your own home. From Baddow to Beaulieu and Chelmer to Springfield, enjoy a taste of Cookes and have it delivered to your door.

Chelmsford restaurant opens!

On 7th November 2020 we were delighted to have the Chelmsford Mayor, Jude Deakin, cut the ribbon and open the doors to our brand-new eel and pie house.

Although it was lockdown and we were restricted to guests being able to celebrate with us, friends and family came out to our launch and helped us mark the special day. Over 500 pies were sold along with our signature mash and liquor. Many customers joined the queue to see what all the fuss was about and after a long day we received many messages with roaring reviews.
